Hi all,

I have a friend who is going to be on holiday soon and she asked me to look at finding out information on volunteering to do things at TEARS.

Anyways, I called them and asked and got the following;

They are desperately looking for people to walk dogs, people generally come on Wednesdays and Fridays but you're welcome any day (just on those days, lots of people go together)

If anyone here has time or is keen, you're welcome to goto TEARS and go walk a dog for a hour or so.

Their address is: Lekkerwater Road, Sunnydale, (Off Kommetjie Road)

Their contact number is: (021) 785 4482 and the person incharge is Adrian (a lady)

Use it, don't use it...

Maybe a link to let the uninformed - such as myself - know what TEARS is?

TEARS is a pro-life non-profit animal rescue society, whose core aim is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home abandoned, abused and neglected dogs and cats. Animals are only euthanased on the advice of a veterinarian, when they are incurably ill with no hope of recovery.

Unfortunately I live in Pretoria, otherwise I would have loved to help out.

Was in a discussion about this just last week.
In London, people apparently pay people to walk their dogs.
In South Africa, people don't exercise their dogs enough and then end up with behavioral problems in their dogs.
A common complaint is that it's dangerous to walk the dogs, not just other dogs, but the criminal element as well.
But .. the irony of the situation is that .. if everyone was walking their dogs .. it would be a lot safer (well, the criminal aspect).
