Technical issue in passport control at OR Tambo continues

Airports Company South Africa (Acsa) has warned travellers flying from or to OR Tambo International Airport of long queues at passport control due to "technical challenges" with the Border Management Authority's (BMA's) biometric system.

In a statement on the morning of Monday, 16 December 2024, Acsa explained the delays were due to the unresponsiveness of the BMA’s Biometric Movement Control System (BMCS), which was not functioning as expected.
