To me a car, especially a family car type of car, should satisfy a few basic requirements before I start to concern myself about looks, safety is non negotiable. It do have hot cross bun rear lights, a huge spec.

If we're being fair here, I think we know jeep had those lights first. It do have hot cross bun rear lights, a huge spec.
Mostly agree but hot cross bun rear lights are dope dude. To be clear. To me a car, especially a family car type of car, should satisfy a few basic requirements before I start to concern myself about looks, safety is non negotiable.
Renault Kadjar, heated seats was optional but this one has heated seats, you can negotiate the price https://www.autotrader.co.za/redirect/listing/25996903I say technically, because I already know what I want and why I want it:
A 2016 or newer Mitsibushi ASX with less than 100K for 250k or less..
Why..? Well I currently own one, a 2013 model nearing 200K.. It has all of the things (yes, luxuries for the most part) that I want in a car:
- Heated seats
- Electric mirrors and windows
- AC (pretty standard thing for most cars these days)
- Cruise control and steering wheel controls for factory radio for controlling music and hands free system
- Bluetooth connectivity
- Park distance control
- Good safety features
- Enough space (not yet able to afford a double cab, which is my ultimate goal)
- OBC with real time fuel usage etc (also relatively standard for most cars these days)
- Not leather but, not cloth seats either, really good quality hard wearing leather like material
- Park distance control
All and all, the ASX looks like the best value for money in terms of the above features, when compared to other similar vehicles from other brands.. I can get a 2016 ASX, one spec up from current one, which then adds to the above, reverse cam, day time running lights and touch screen infotainment system for my 250k budget, with only 67k on the clock..
Leading to my question: Are there any cars that I am missing, from other brands, that has my above wishlist at the age, mileage and price I am looking for..? I cannot seem to find anything but, I want to make sure I am not missing out on anything before I commit to the same car again..
Seems to tick all the boxes.. I just can't deal with the looks though..Renault Kadjar, heated seats was optional but this one has heated seats, you can negotiate the price https://www.autotrader.co.za/redirect/listing/25996903
Zero available in the western cape, within my search parameters..2015/2016 Honda CRV 2.0 Elegance ticks all the boxes.
Can't do a sedan.. doesn't have the space I need..Get a BMW 320D
Then you need bmw x3 3.0D 190KW and almost 600Nm of of torque, you be hauling the family in no time! Can't do a sedan.. doesn't have the space I need..
Assuming that's the eclipse cross, with the split rear window..?I had Mitsibushi Eclipse with 2.0 N/A CVT as rental in JHB. 12000 on the clock so pretty new one.
It has no power at all, I have to drop gears on virtual gearbox just get anything then revs to 6000 rpm and still nothing. Was slough of note. Coming from kuga 1,6 which also had 110kw, this def did not feel like it had 110kw.
You will be donating the shortfall I need for that..?? I am at 250k, no older than 2016...Then you need bmw x3 3.0D 190KW and almost 600Nm of of torque, you be hauling the family in no time!
Indeed that one, was nice to drive overall eat JHB potholes up like nothing. But scary to overtake, power delivery was so bad, normally i just drop gear on the kuga and turbo kicks in and im off.Assuming that's the eclipse cross, with the split rear window..?
If so, uses the same engine as the ASX.. have seen a few reviews for the eclipse cross, where the biggest complaint was the CVT gearbox and how sluggish it makes the car..
In manual, the engine is good and you can get power from about 3500rpm for overtaking and such..

In terms of boot space? ASX doesn't have a huge boot with the seats up, smaller than most mid size sedans. 3 Series has a bigger boot if I'm not mistaken, before you fold seats down or load the SUV above that backboard. Can't do a sedan.. doesn't have the space I need..
Sport mode is suppose kick in when you use flappy paddle gearbox on it. There was no mode selection just the gears you can lower manually, which is "fake" gears due to it having a CVT gearbox. Was it not on eco mode or something? What you are describing does not sound normal for a 2.0l engine.
When I am looking at boot space, I am looking at total space available with the seats folded flat in the rear.. Yes, I do need all that space.. regularly transporting either a lot of stuff, or tall/wide stuff which would not easily fit into a sedan.. also, I like the, albeit slight, ride height advantage over a sedan..In terms of boot space? In terms of the original request, I've found Mitsubishi to be generally underrated here in SA, so would expect value to be found in the 2nd hand market.
I like your approach though - normally these threads, people ask what to buy, get 10 different answers where we basically tell OP to by what we've bought, they ignore everyone and get the one they secretly wanted any way. Least here you're playing open cards. I say, you like the ASX, get it. I mean, you don't like how a car looks, no-one can convince you otherwise. There's no one best car to buy.
My comment would be, as it always seems to be, do you need an SUV? Cos I reckon you could get better value from a sedan than an SUV. But really, get what you like.
Got ya. Ja I've always got kids in the car so boot space measured with the seats down wouldn't make sense for me. I mean they must be able to fold down but more important to me is decent space with the seats up.When I am looking at boot space, I am looking at total space available with the seats folded flat in the rear.. The main reason I made this thread, was to make sure that I am not missing out on anything that compares with the ASX at the same spec and price point and it's beginning to look like nothing will..
