Technology Predictions for the next decade

Imagine the fecal matter on that internet connected toilet user interface ...

This is all cool and i enjoy new gadgets .....but shyt cant we just find a cure for the common cold

The internet connected toilet? How about just a smartphone or tablet? Solved.

How awkward would it be to take a trip to the throne and you've forgotten your smartphone on the coffee table?

The toilet problem has been solved by all the tablet manufactures, the next step is just going too far... Why don't they pimp things like showers?

i prefer a normal toilet. mine works perfectly. i don't want someone hacking into my toilet, then waiting for me to sit down so they can squirt water up my pooper. no thanks.

also, technology that we can look forward to in 2020, especially in SA, is "broadband" internet for all. and maybe digital broadcasting.

Maybe i'm weird, but i can't event read a magazine while doing the numbert two. I just can't use my phone or tablet while doing the deed, i'm just not used to it.

I wonder how much all these services will cost.

i don't read much on the throne, well, not books at least. mostly i take my phone or tablet and play angry birds. now with my current work i got a laptop, so maybe oneday when i figured out what to do with the mouse, i'll go work on my quake3 skills in peace.

and staying with the internet toilet theme, your university will have to add plumbing to your computer science degree. first lesson? data/doodoo flow.

Having difficulty finding a missing piece of equipment? Simply download the blueprints and print the missing piece on your printer.

Watch how patents and copyright will be used to try to kill that idea, as the repair centres fight back against people fixing things themselves.

Some pretty visionary things Pieter brings up and the discussion goes right down the toilet.

And all of this would be wonderfull in SA! But maby put the time line to 2050?! By 2022 we would by lucky to have very fast internet for all..

The only problem is how the toilet will identify the user: A bum-print scanner perhaps
If mothers can allegedly identify the excrement of their own child based purely on the stench, perhaps a sniffer toilet could identify adults too.

Failing that, excrement will include the manufacturer's DNA, which can be used to identify the user.

All these things are possible but with the world economy on the brink of recession all these are out of range of all but the richest.
