He is probably talking about inter-ministerial communications costs and not general public telecoms costs.
 
I can't agree with this statement.

I would like to dissect this research myself. Ruling Politicians have a way to present data in such a way that they look better!

I have had my mobile contract for almost 5.5 years, price is still the same, had not come down 45%, My first 1024 MB ADSL was half the price and I could download 5 times more. Telkom Telephone costs especially rental of the lines was way less 6 years ago.

So I don't quite see where the reference year was that was used, they probably chose the year when Telkom went crazy and used their monopoly to their advantage.

The devil is smiling because he will be getting new recruits in a few years!
 
This is news to me minster... As my usage of telecoms remained the same.... but my bill did not drop by 45% ..... are you sure you are reading off the correct brief minister....>???

Must be they used their political muscle and ratepayers money to build their own network.. now all of a sardine .. the prices have droped 45%

wfe go hide in that cushy office till ur term is up....
 
I guess it depends on which service you use. My iburst account and mtn monthly payments have come down in the past year. Dont know about 45% though (have to do some maths). But I have to say, I wouldnt mind getting a bigger cap for the same price. 1 gig doesnt take me far.
 
WTF has this mampara been smoking and more importantly why doesnt he share some with the rest of us.
 
Oi that is SA politics for you. Simply add into text some lines which would be acceptable to the citizens of the country to hear. Whether the said lines are true, factual, or even remotely feasable, does not matter. After the well doctored speech is delivered, and IF someone actually is heard saying "LIEZ", then a committee needs to be appointed to investigate the impact arpartheid had on the crafty lines that were inserted into the said text. In order to give merrit to this committee, only the most honorable family members, close friends and creditors are chosen to envestigate the allegations of "LIEZ being told". Not to worry though, the honorable member will be exonorated, the main oposition party will be found to be the ruthless, lying and guilty party. The public too should not be worried at all, because after all, the oposition party, in co-hoots with apartheid, is the cause of all evil and therefore the public should not mind bankrupting themselves trying to keep in touch with family, generate an income or simply from trying to educate themselves.

All is well in the end, costs are down by 45%. The economy is booming, houses are being built, tax is being collected, gov officials lie around at home on long leave earning millions. Surely it must be going well in the country as only a rich and solid economy can sustain such indulgences. So all you people saying that your accounts have not been reduced by 45%, take a hard long look at yourself. You will then see that you really need to brush up on your chinese math skills, and you will see the truth and sleep easy at night. (BTW free chinese math classes on offer at your local gov building)

I think what is happening here is exploitation of unqualified ministers. The ministers get a buttered document that tells them how great the work is they are doing. Due to their sheltered existence they have zero clues as to how things are in the real world because they get everything for free from industry players. Free telephone lines at home, free mobile phones, free internet...

I think some of our ministers are simply not qualified to hold office. Especially health and telecoms are extremely technical departments. Who on God's green earth would appoint Ivy for instance into a top level telecoms position? You would not do it based on her skills that is for sure...
