Telegram network down

Rich Communication Services. It is basically a standardized protocol that allows people to send Chat like messages via the network. Basically it will replace the SMS system. It must be enabled by the network though as it runs through the network systems...and not through the internet like other messaging apps. Google Messages have it enabled...and so does the Samsung and Huawei messaging apps that come loaded on the phones. In Google Messages...if the person u are messaging has RCS enabled them it shows "chat" ... If the person does not have RCS it shows sms. Similar to iMessage or iChat

Meh. It is back up for me.

If a contact of mine does not have Telegram...then I first check if they are RCS enabled and if so...then I message them with that....if not...then WhatsApp. WhatsApp my last port of call :)

Telegram is still down for me on PC and Android.

I don't see RCS catching on. I certainly don't trust it, and wouldn't care if MTN introduced it. WhatsApp is fine - it's like a crappy Telegram.

RCS may replace SMS. It won't replace Telegram or Signal if you want good privacy.
