Telegram plans $1.2-billion ICO for chat cryptocurrency

This is actually has a lot of potential.
In a 132 page white paper, Telegram has outlined a four-stage plan:

“TON Services” will be a platform for third-party services of any kind that enables smartphone like friendly interfaces for decentralized apps and smart contracts.

“TON DNS” is a service for assigning human-readable names to accounts, smart contracts services and network nodes. With TON DNS, accessing decentralized services could be like “viewing a website on the World Wide Web.”

“TON Payments” is a platform for micropayments and a micropayment channel network. It aims to be used for “instant off-chain value transfers between users bots and other services”. Safeguards built into the system are designed to ensure that these transfers “are as secure as on-chain transactions”.

They have something that no other crypto has: they have 200 million users with apps on their phones.

This has good potential, a decentralized chat network is what the world needs to curb the censorship taking place by governments

In 6 months, you’ll have more crypto currencies than real currencies.

Goodbye the hopes of an unified and standardized simpler system.

The madness continues.

Messaging app provider Telegram has successfully raised another $850 million through its initial coin offering (ICO) private sale, public documents reveal.

The company announced it had raised $850 million in late February in the initial ICO phase, which was already at the time one of the largest amounts raised via a token sale to date.

Notably, the filing states that "this $850,000,000 offering is in addition to the previous offering," indicating that the company has now exceeded its initial target of $1.2 billion, and has accumulated a total of $1.7 billion.
And the cherry on top...
As previously reported, Telegram may try to raise as much as $2.55 billion.
Greed or necessary funding?
