Telemarketers - I hate them

that DMA website asks for everything bar your blood type. Imagine the telemarketers got hold of that info...

Guess what? They probably have all that info and thats probably why you have to complete it so they know for a fact its you. What do you expect to put in... just your cell nr?

After I upgraded my credit cards and cheque account, I seemed to get at least 2 or 3 calls a day, selling cell contracts, credit cards, blah blah. For many years, I endured, about 6months ago, I decided to tell the persons I was unemployed and asked if I still qualify. The reactions have ranged from polite to down right rude. I have not received a call in a good couple months.

My advice is to take yourself off that"list" by saying you are unemployed. The thing is that it gets to a point where you want them to call just to hear their reaction(i used to schedule a call back if I was busy) I get the giggles just thinking about it.

:D

i also noticed, the moment i have a large amount of cash in my bank account, i always seemed to get a call from somebody. coincidence?

Do they ever make sales?
They are quite sneaky so it is possible they're getting some sales. They don't let you talk (the 8ta ones), you just get told they have a package for you and I think if you're not careful it ends with you handing over your bank details. I have never allowed them to get to the end, we end up arguing about how their deal is not better than what I already have.

I usually try to sell them stuff while they're on the phone with me. Mostly junk like VCR players or items they probably already have. Then they understand how it feels.

LOL!!

This is something I still want to try, but I hardly get a chance to speak with them.

telemarketing is worse in the UK. My landline rings EVERY day at least twice between 6 and 7pm. I have stopped answering it and turned the ring down. It was always some lawyers wanting to know i need to sue someone who the bank wanting to sell me some obscure insurance(this has now being replaced by lawyers who want to help me sue the bank for selling said obscure insurance :) )

Fortunatly phoning mobile numbers would blow their budget.

I never give my landline number out. The only reason I have a landline is because I need it for broadband.

The new thing is that they first tell you they not trying to sell you anything but they're just doing a "survey"
Its usually an insurance company wanting to know what you're currently paying and that they can give you a better offer.

so in essence they are trying to sell you something.

Oh, you'll guys will like this...
