Okay hey everyone,

I live in the west of Pretoria in a kinda newish security complex and last year when I called Telkom to install a phone line for me they refused and told me there isn't enough people in the complex that also want the installation and they only pull the cables through if enough people want it

Anyways...

Something I didn't tell them now that I think about it is that I can see the telephone pole about 10m from my house (I'm in the corner of the security complex)... Do you guys think there will be any chance that they would actually connect only my house to that pole? Is it possible? Thus I'm not asking them to do the whole security complex.. only my house in the corner..

Possible?

Telephone pole is outside the complex wall.. There isn't any road there at all.

I don't think I'll have a problem with the body corporate ;-) I just want the cable to come over the wall from the pole.. and I'm wondering if Telkom would do something like this?

Also, I've heard some people getting some wireless Telkom phones or something? Is this true? Is it possible to get ADSL via that and how fast would that be if it would be used for gaming?

Thanks Everyone.

Telkom can't even send me a bill in the post because my because my unit number isn't on their system. Apparently this can't be entered manually.
When I applied for ADSL, I got a letter telling me it was not available in my area. In desperation I decided to plug my router in, and it worked perfectly.
Good luck!

Telkom should be able to do an overhead cable run depending on the distance between the pole and your unit, also providing the complex body corp will allow it and of course there are enough spares on the underground cabling terminating on the pole.

I know Telkom have wireless connections, which they emulate to an analogue signal, for your analogue phone. But I doubt they can provide ADSL service over it.

^that will be his stumbling block.
