Telkom’s arbitrage

As long as.....

we, as South Aricans, stay passive and do nothing, Telkom will continue to rule our lives and all we can do is moan, moan and complain. Personally I have taken a stance against Telkom by not having any product in my house from these guys. There are alternatives and with a certain amount of discipline does nto have to cost an arm and a leg. Neotel is not the great hope we all wanted, unfortunately they are in this to make money, which is good from a business perspective and bad for us consumers. Companies are realising that South Africans are pathetic in that they simply moan, moan but will go with the flow. Because with word boycotting is associated with apartheid, we have this fear of the word. I say frak the status quo and boycott those companies that are sc.....ng us. Vote with your feet, stand up and be counted but please don't moan, moan and complain and follow the stream.

I agree, and I am also planning on voting with my feet. As soon as Neotel coverage comes to our area I am switching. If you plan on moaning about Telkom and their practices then put your money where your mouth is.

Untill LLU happens, telkom will continue to be on top.

Personally I dont want telkom to "die", because then neotel will just full the shoes of the monopoly evil giant. It will be interesting when neotel (finally) offers DSL services of it's own

I have long ago voted with my feet: I have refused any Telkom products for 4 years now, neither in business, nor in personal - I am entirely Telkom free ... well almost: Although I also gave up my home linked radio alarm which automatically granted Telkom an annual radio license fee, the complex I live in now is in radio alarm contact, so we still have Telkom getting their 1x radio air-waves fee spread between 400 or so residents.

Why did Gov give ownership of the air to Telkom an land-based entity, and not to a player who actually uses the air, like SABC or controls it, like ICASA?
