Telkom’s mobile data, broadband plans

The reason why people don't have Telkom lines is simply the hassle of dealing with Telkom.

The slowness of Telkom to install an ADSL line is only part of the hassle.

But ordering a line, and reporting problems, and getting problems sorted drives people to alternatives.

So instead of just improving the installation time and all the hassle involved with it, they want to create a completely new product?

I always thought this was the way Telkom should go, stick with what they "know" - not Telkom Media. In Aus they too supply a temporary solution while you DSL landline is provisioned.

Now my wish. Sort out your front lines i.e. 0800375375 AND 10215 PLEASE.
Hell its hard to believe that their top management are blind to this. I mean, there seems no acknowledgement of the problem

I see some good things here though!

September said that the company may work together with mobile operators in their mobile network rollout, and the decision as to where and to what extent Telkom will build will be determined by the availability of mobile operators’ networks and their willingness to cooperate.
 since when does Telkodemonopolies deserve GSM spectrum, FUT   !!!

Somehow I suspect that Poison Ivy and her cronies wrote Telkodemonopolies' SENS notification - it smacks of classic Poison Ivy unclarification.
I have to disagree: offering HSPA whilst waiting for ADSL to be installed does not address the issue of Telkodemonopolies' inefficiency and incompetence in its core business which is wired fixed lines, and providing HSPA instead of ADSL under the pretext of HSPA being temporary, will not address this problem - in all likelihood what will happen is that customers will be using HSPA for extended periods of time and ADSL installations for those "temporarily" using HSPA, will become even more protracted. If Telkodemonopolies was an efficient company, I would have a different opinion.

The company’s CEO, Reuben September, said that Telkom will follow the example of leading international fixed line operators which continue to grow by remaining focused on their existing strengths and continuously transforming their fixed line business model to increase its value proposition to customers.

ahahahaha. read: he too did a MBA and all he could recall was this para.

Is Telkom this un-informed to think that there's still customers that will actually make use of their services out of free will? :confused:I dont think so. Just cancelled my line with them.

another fine crappy service from a company we all love to hate. they can't even get one thing right now stuffing up another?

A Joke this is all it is (Dumb ass telscum to late)

From the presentation ...

The assigning of GSM spectrum to Telkom provides the necessary impetus to this initiative.
Surely it would be UMTS spectrum they would be after (allowing for HS(D)PA) and not GSM (up to EDGE)?
Telkom’s fixed wireless network will not allow cell-to-cell handover
Telkom intends to focus on providing mobile data services, e.g.
– Offer 3G interim service whilst ADSL is being installed
If they're not doing handover, or are not even really interested in voice, they're going to pay dearly for a technology which has circuit switched voice capabilites built into its pricing.
...penetration levels will be based on viabilities taking into account:
– Existing co-location synergies
– Network sharing and roaming arrangements with MOs
So if they're going to mostly 'ride' on Vodacom's network, why do they need spectrum?

Solid plan or confused desperation?

Ohh Ruby...

" will give customers an increased opportunity to spend their money with Telkom " - there are many opportunitys in life, who would have guessed handing over your cash to Telkom was one of them

I wonder if there is a company anywhere in the world that is loathed as much as Telkom is in this country. It is such a pity that we are forced to do business with the beast.....for now.
