Telkom’s poor image

Hehe. Yeah they need that - lay their own new cable and skip over this SAT3 crud we have to deal with. :D

1) Stop lying and Keep to Promises.
Telling a new ADSL client it will take 4 - 6 weeks to process an order and then inexplicably delaying the installation for an extra 1/2/3 months only serves to drive customers away in a competitive environment. It might've taken way too long to get there, but competition is coming.

I was told my installation would take 2-3 weeks over one month ago. When I called the ADSL helpline today to do a follow up I was told that there is a shortage of ports in my exchange, which I believe is the standard Telkom excuse. To add insult to injury the consultant flagged my order to obtain an installation date (which indicated to me that my order had been quietly ignored until now) and said that I should follow the matter up again next week.

Surely it wouldn't hurt them to pick up the phone and call me? :(

Oh wait - that's called providing decent customer service, by all accounts a completely alien concept at Telkom!
