Just want to know if anyone knows how the "Access your Telkom Internet from anywhere" (https://secure.telkom.co.za/today/campaign/you-are-internetting-wrong/) work on the promotion running on the Telkom website currently (Valid until 30 June 2017) for Uncapped Internet Promo?

It states: "Did you know that our internet products now allow you to access your Telkom Internet data bundle from any mobile device, such as a WiFi router, tablet or 3G USB modem, via a Telkom Internet SIM card? This will allow you to access your Telkom Internet data when your DSL service is not working, or when you are away from home."

I phoned the sales department and they could not really explain to me how it works. Would like to know if I understand it correctly that you can get a mobile sim and use the ADSL data on you sim (hopeful)?

Thanks, I also see there is already a thread regarding this
https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showth...new-Integrated-Data-Service-–-All-the-details
Reading through some of the comments it seems you get the 2 or 3 GB mobile data capped (on your capped DSL data) unless you pay an addition to make use of the full DSL cap. Would be interesting to know what rules applies to the uncapped line and the promotion currently running and if they will charging additional to make use of the service. Going to pop into a Telkom shop this afternoon and see if they know more.........

I took a chance and phoned 10213 again today and asked them to explain IDS (integrated Data Service) to me. The way they explained it, to make use of your soft cap ADLS data on a mobile sim you have to pay the additional amount (depending on your package) 40GB = R149 additional, 100GB = R269 additional and 200GB = R525 additional. You can then make use of the full soft cap of your DSL line or mobile sim and or DSL line.
When you choose uncapped then you do not have the option to make use of IDS or the full amount (uncapped data) on you mobile sim. Instead you have access to 1, 2 or 3 GB of data per month depending on you line speed available on a mobile sim. But there is no additional cost involved for this.

The link posted by Johnatan56 now makes sense thanks.

What's the process to add this data to my Telkom SIM? I take it I'll use their WiFI hotspots, not my mobile data for the additional 2GB?

No it runs of their LTE/3G network. Not 100% sure about the process to link and also not sure if it can be linked to an existing sim or if you need a new sim. Check out this thread (post #231 onward), there are a few users that managed to link a sim to account but seems that it is an issue getting it done.

Eish, that thread doesn't fill me with confidence.

I'll try this from 10210 when I'm next stuck in traffic ;)

Use a Telkom Mobile SIM. ;)

I have one, it's saved me plenty already via their FreeMe bundles... :)

I hope I can add IDS to a prepaid SIM which I can add FreeMe Boost bundles to. Such that the IDS data is used first. That will be an excellent arrangement.
