Telkom ADSL checker down/broken?

Hi

Can some of you test the adsl checker with your number and see if you get a result other than not available.

I am putting in numbers with adsl lines and it just delivers a not available result.

Also getting not available, used to work before. That checker is notorious for being wrong, outdated or just broken.

Nice, never used that before but I think it's also broken as I just checked the house next door and it says "not available". Previous tenants used to have ADSL but don't know about the new ones (not seeing a SSID).

I'd put it down to database errors on Telkom's side.... and they have nobody there to fix it. Die mense wat omgee is weg!

I whipped out a phone book and tried random numbers, all the same thing.

What is PE's dialing code?

Could well be the case, it shows "not available" for both my phone no and address

The sections that were updating that database were mostly contract workers in each region around the country. As of 31 March 2015 all their contracts were terminated.

Thanks for checking folks.

I have used it on and off for a while and it always gave good data, up until maybe a month or so ago. I have been looking at property recently and wanted to check connectivity in the areas. After getting such a high 'not available' set of results even my own cynical mind could not digest it.

Now even my number which was correctly reported in the past, renders a not 'available result'.

Telkom's site stopped working, but the backend API must be fine because fortunately we can still query this data via sites like VOX and WebAfrica :-

Replace xxxxxxxxxx with 10 digit 'area code and phone number'
