Telkoms ADSL checker states my current line is 2mb
Openweb states my line is still only 1mb

Is their checker non functional?

Phone Telkom and ask for your PORT to be reset. This will get you on 2MB.

Because you on OW 1MB, your speed may be limited to 1MB (though test first) .

The ADSL Checker was just updated recently so everyone sees it .

Before i forget, login to your router and check if you are not already upgraded.

10210 then went to adsl tech support
