Morning Friends,

There are ALOT of Telkom ADSL regional faults open this morning that will cause a wide list of problems for folks across the country.

If you are experiencing a problem with your ADSL today, I would suggest your first port of call to be Telkom on 10210.

Have a great day !
MrB

I lost connectivity 3 times last night at 22:00, 23:00 and again at 00:00 for about 15 minutes each time.

The line didn't drop sync, it just couldn't connect to either of my ISP's

Can someone from Telkom please explain why in a 3 week period this is the second time I have had an entire week of downtime? Is this the level of service that Telkom offiers? Call centre agents are also absoultely useless too - they have no contact with the technicians and simply log the fault. Was also told earlier this week that my fault had been escalated but found out this morning from Judy that it hasn't been escalated. Seriously Telkom? Third world way of doing business.

Can anyone recommend another service provider that they're happy with? I need a 1mb line with after hours uncapped.

Called neotel - managed to get info after the third call - apparently they don't do line only rentals/sales for 1mb adsl, you have to do the whole package, and the cheapest they have for my needs is R1200 - WiMax, that's R400 more than I pay Telkom, and not sure that extra cash is worth a service I'm not guarenteed will be better than the terrible Telkom service.

I can't believe this still isn't fixed, i'm still getting gateway timeouts on every 2nd site unless i use the proxy ranger provided weeks ago.

Gateway Timeout
The following error occurred:

Code:
A gateway timeout occurred. The server is unreachable. Retry the request.

Check your dns settings. Also clear your dns cache

I tried these and didn't help.

ipconfig /flushdns
net stop dnscache
net start dnscache

It's affecting downloads in flashget as well, i get timeout or network error 10060. Also i cannot download from rapidshare and a few other sites. Rapidshare says ip address modified and then Download parameters invalid - please try again later. No problems with other isp accounts. Reloading the page it eventually might load. And pages are taking ages to resolve.

I tried google dns and its even worse, and i still get that error. From what i've read on other forums and people with the same problem is if the isp runs a transparent proxy, no idea if telkom does?

I tested here http://www.lagado.com/proxy-test and i get:

The proxy server has announced itself as 1.1 ndnn-ip-ccache-1 (NetCache NetApp/6.1.1D8), 1.1 rrba-ip-pcache-5 (NetCache NetApp/6.1.1D9) and 2 ip's.

Something is really broken, i can't browse at all unless i use this as proxy dsl-cache.saix.net:8080

Telkom is having issues. So calling won't help.
There's a network error. Just hope they sort it out before the weekend.
