Telkom ADSL performance threads: your feedback needed

Hi there

We want to encourage people to start discussions about ADSL performance, and potential exchange congestion, for suburbs across South Africa. I feel this can be of value to users, Telkom and ISPs.

We will start a dedicated forum for this, and would like to get feedback from you on what you will find of value in such a discussion thread.

We will currently ask for the following:

Title
--ADSL problems in [suburb name] (must be consistent and easy to find in Google)

Body
--ADSL line speed
--ISP name and account type
--Feedback on what problems the user is experiencing
--Traceroute to Telkom.co.za

Is there anything else which Telkom, ISPs or you will find of value? Anything else you would like users to post?

To help... how to do a traceroute:

Open a DOS window (Run -> cmd, enter), type the following command:

C:\tracert telkom.co.za {enter}

The time of the day when this happened.
The first couple of digits of the telephone number associated with the ADSL service so that we can determine if it's the same exchange.
The actual sync speed of the line (as opposed to the up to 4Mbps etc speed from Telkom)
The attenuation stats of the line.
