I have a 10meg ADSL line from Telkom, Crystal Web as ISP.

Every 4-6 weeks throughput tanks. Live chat with Crystal web, they try what they can, then tell me to ask Telkom to do a port reset. 20-40min on the line with Telkom and the port reset is completed and I'm getting 6-8meg download which is acceptable.

Does anyone else have this situation with such a definite pattern?

I asked if they could just schedule a port reset on the 1st of the month at 0h00 but they told me to take a hike.

Is this just a knuckle under and grind through it situation or is there anything I can do?

My throughput tanks every night around 9pm since I switched my line back to Telkom. Whats worse is that when my son streams Youtube on his Xbox One I can forget about seamlessly streaming something else at the same time. I dont know if its because of the fact that you cant change the quality in the Xbox app or if its on Telkoms network side. With Vox's Fatpipe this was not an issue even my Afrihost capped account buffers everything besides Youtube.

Well, I've been without my 4mb since 2nd October....but when i still had connectivity i had to call them twice a week as they had moved me to a 2mb line, very frustrating stuff!

I was on OpenWeb so there is a certain degree of PTSD involved in my decision. :erm:

I was with Mweb. Man now was that a useless bunch. 3 months after canceling (plus have confirmation of cancel) their debt collectors phoned me to say I owe Mweb money and is not paying them. I just told them the service was cancelled 3 months ago and I have all the documents. They said they understand and hung up. Now if even you debt collectors get frustrated you must know..... My service in general was good with Mweb just the accounts department that was a mess.

Anyways with places like Crystal, Afri, Axxess.... you just need to give it a month notice and they sort it out. Supposed to anyways.
