Hi folks

I have emailed Telkom about the following issues:

No feedback on our previous question regarding TV over ADSL. Why are they so quite? Have the forgotten that they have promised it? Though it will just blow over?

Local capping: more information needed.

The email to Telkom:

“I would like to start by thanking you for your excellent communication. I have noticed that you are eager to help customers and it is at least starting to change the image people have of Telkom. Unfortunately this hard work from you and a few others can be undone by other key parties in Telkom.

As you know I have emailed Steven & Pinky two weeks ago regarding the TV over broadband testing involving MNet… I have had no reply yet, and I guess it is unlikely that I will get one. As you can expect this is not the kind of communication we are looking for at MyADSL, and this is one of the reasons why we had to go to ICASA with our complaints. I am certain you appreciate our frustration when it comes to matters like this. What I find particularly irritating is that we have specifically asked Pinky at your press briefing whether she will reply to our emails, and she immediate confirmed that it will be done. I know that she is in marketing and that is the accepted approach, but some action is necessary to back up these words! Should we be surprised when people criticize Telkom and its management? Maybe you can provide me with alternative contact details of somebody in Telkom that will answer our questions within a reasonable time.

The second issue we would like to gain clarity on: Can somebody please give details on the statement from Steven: “This will be a more elegant solution to this problem, although it obviously means that we will have to be more rigorous in enforcing the bandwidth cap, and the current situation of unlimited local bandwidth will also come to an end,” says White. Users are obviously concerned about this statement and we will appreciate a full rundown of what it might involve.”

Comments welcome as usual.

Regards,

RPM

Re

I've sent a few emails to Steven White, but recieved a reply from only the simplest and first of the lot. Guess he couldn't process the dialogue in the rest :p

Mr Leibowitz

Telkom will be approaching customers to participate who fall within the required parameters of the trial.

Regards.

Steven

To whom it may concern.

I recently read that Telkom will be doing a trial of ADSL Video-on demand and MNET services. Are specific Telkom subscribers being used, or can any client volunteer for the service, and if so, how?

Awaiting a reply

Telkom is unfortunate to have lost Ravin Maharaj.. probably the nicest guy to ever have worked at Telkom, and who has left - which I'm sure will be to his benefit. Its the lack of communication from Telkom's side which makes them look like the ogre people perceive them to be. In the horror movies the monsters never speak, only make grumbling and roaring sounds, not unlike Telkom's belly making noise for our cash.

rpm, if they don't reply soon, then they will prove themselves to be a bunch of wops.. I could always come up to JHB and we can go to Telkom HO together and get answers.

Surely Steven should by now be using anti-depressants. Nobody in good concience can do what he does and still feel good about themselves...

I think he is the Darth Vader of the telecoms world. It all started out so good and as time went on it turned out so bad. Steven, turn away from the Dark Side my friend...

Like Yoda said, "a deep seated hatred I sense in him I do. South Africa hurt it shall..."

Hi folks

Just a short note to inform you that I have received a call from Sharon Horton (Telkom) early this morning. I must congratulate her for her dedication to communicate with customers...I wish the same could be said for some other people at Telkom. I will give more details as it becomes available (like CNN :D).

Regards,

RPM

By the time you become a Telkom manager you don't give a **** about anything other than money and your greed is worse than anything on this earth. You have dollar signs tattooed on your eyeballs, a heart of stone, and a selfishness beyond hope. Your wife has left you long ago because you spent more hours working and @rsecreeping up $izwe's ass than with her so you live alone and your kids don't know you. You live in a mansion with a R3million sound system and can't wait to get home to turn on your downloads on your 622Mbit line and in the process force everyone in SA to get slower speeds as you push in and download the entire Corel Draw 12 (6-CD's) and all the episodes you could ever want of 7th Heaven which is soothing for your wicked soul. You sit and fart so bad the smoke detectors go off. Your insides are already dead as evil has overcome you

Brilliant!!!

Kei I get this distinct feeling that you don't like Telkom? :) And there I thought it's only the *rest* of South Africa... :D nice use of adjectives hehehehe

Well done to Sharon Horton for calling rpm, we were all probably only expecting deafening silence from the blue and green behemoth.

Well, MaD, you know who I am and how I feel about telkom :D

Hi folks

I have received more feedback from Telkom regarding our letter to them. Xolisa Vapi has contacted me and will liaise directly with us in future. As you know Sharon Horton has contacted me this morning and has promised feedback before Monday afternoon. To get feedback so soon was a pleasant surprise! Not always easy to find a customer centered manager over there…thanks Sharon! Xolisa is also in the process of setting up a meeting…will give feedback as soon as I have more details.

Regards,

RPM

Nicely done RPM, it would be good to hear exactly what is going to happen so that we may formulate a plan of action. Preferably a cunning one.

They are all sitting there in their ivory towers and deciding what next step to take to screw average Joe Public over.
