Was thinking while I was reading teh loacl newspaper about the latest worm.

We can blame it on Telkom. MS made their patch avail on about 2005-04-18. Most ADSL users were capped at hthat stage, thus impossible to upgrade, which left them vunerable and their pc's then distributed worms, with s negative impact on SA GDP.

Thank you Telkom.[:D]

Good point. Definitely another reason ICASA should implement stiff penalties on Telkom.

Absolutley not Pumba! I wasn't capped on the 18th of April! Maybe you sholudn't be sad & download Mp3's all day. Your argument is so pathetic, by blaming Telkom on the virus. Look no further than the virus writers themselves you twit!

Hey Dominic - don't base your fast and loose accusations on assumptions - some people do actually use ADSL for work - virus writers might be evil but are unfortunately a reality of online life - TELKOM should exclude downloads form windows update and av firms from the cap.

The point being made by PUMBA is that Telkom have inadevertently (or deliberately) contributed to the _proliferation_, and not that they're to be blamed for the virus itself. I can only but support this contention, as the facts speak for themselves. Personally, I was capped on or about the 10th already (and don't fall into the usage category that DOMINIC thinks most of us do) - thankfully, I don't use Windows except very rarely.

Dominic: i think it was a JOKE...**** dude u got issues.

I agree with Pumba on this one. They are preventing you (a paying user of their service) from using their service (providing Internet Access) from updating your systems, etc. I also agree with reech, exclude then these vital services from being capped. This is gonna be tough for them ofcourse as I might deem an update to Counter Strike to be important :) (thinks up some story about a backdoor vulnerability being fixed in a next version.) [}:)]

This is almost like preventing someone from phoning the police / ambulance, cause he has made more than 200 calls for the month (stupid example, but..) I am using calls and not cost cause I guess if your bill is overdue it is overdue. But with ADSL you actually PAID for access and are being denied it. Corrupt!!!
