** UPDATE 20/07/2022 ***
Been contacted by Telkom to arrange a collection of the duplicate items.
Contract to be voided once collection and state of goods are confirmed.
After multiple calls, emails and a visit to a Telkom shop it seems we have a success!
(Fingers crossed the billing will be fine...)
*******
Thanks to Eskom's loadshedding and my small town municipality's electrical issues, my PC finally lost it's will to live.
Due to limited income, I needed a PC to work on but needed to pay installments (affordable ones) instead of a lumpsum.
Enter Telkom.
I saw an ad on the MyBroadband page for a contract deal with Telkom for a MSI GF63 Notebook and 20+20Gb Data for R499pm. Perfect!
The PC's specs beats my old workhorse by a bit and the monthly installment is by no means unreasonable.
I applied online, got a call back 2 days later and was approved!
Received everything a couple of days later on the 6th of June 2022. Super happy - the PC works a treat and so too the mobile router and data. Now I can work without the fear of loadshedding interfering.
Flashforward a few weeks - I receive an SMS from the couriers that my package will be delivered on the 30th of June 2022. The SMS mentioned a modem only thus I didn't bother following up. [In my defense I have heard of people receiving 'extra' modems or phones due to technical issues so didn't think about it].
I received the package and to my surprise and amusementy received the complete order again...
Leaving the box unopened and thus the contents untouched (and inactive), I contacted Telkom via their "hotline", chat function and send messages to get someone to call me back.
2 Days ago I received the invoice listing both contracts ie. 2x R499 instead of the 1x R499.
I placed a request to cancel the 'surprise second' contract (which was within 7 days) stating my case. A gentleman by the name of Arnold replied stating the standard blurb and the cancellation fees for the whole contract - just under R15k.
I have responded stating my case once again and pointed out that the 'additional' contract is Telkom's fault and totally unsolicited.
I am still awaiting a response form Mr Arnold - and the Telkom Rep on this forum.
I have had contracts with Telkom in the past, all of which were handled very well. It seems however that the service you get online pales in comparison to that you receive at their stores.
Be warned - go to their stores, avoid their online mess.
