Telkom and Mweb!

Morning people of the forum world.

If I read everyday these forums, some complain and moan etc... (they have there reasons)
I just want to say something, everyone talks bad about Telkom etc. My experience so far........
I applied at Telkom for a NEW line at my home on 17 April 2012. Well, knowing I won't hear for 4 weeks or so, so I started waiting. On 24 April, the technician from Telkom phoned and said they coming to install my NEW line on 25 April!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, 25 Apr I had my line installed. On 26 Apr I applied at Telkom for my ADSL 1 meg. Knowing this time it will take the normal 2 weeks or so. Will you believe me if I say that on 30 Apr I had my 1 meg line upgraded by Telkom. I contacted Mweb during my work hours at work. Got home, and started browsing the net. Had problems with line speed/quality, MWEB guy was contacted, he arranged for Mweb Technician to phone me. I was contacted yesterday (5 May), and yes, my line is better, though my uploading speed is little high (40kbps) says mweb, but I can contact Telkom to have it tested. But all I want to say is, I had atleast a good experience with Telkom, they tried!! Thanx to Telkom, and Mweb guy and Mweb, hope my experience will last. Anyway, I must go and do some browsing, will try to leave something for the guys to download

It all depends on what area you live in, Telkom outsources most of their work to external contractors. In some areas they are great in others not so much.

When I originally ordered my ADSL line it took all of 3 days to get it installed and activated.

A year later I had line issues and the line was replaced the next day, I did however had to beg and plead with them for 5 months to move me to a DSLAM that supports 10Mbps.

But it took them 3 months to install a ADSL line for my previous company when we moved offices.
 
I wish,

I went into a Telkom store on17 March to transfer my line since we are moving in the same area on 1 April.
Anyway, when they did not call by the 2nd, I called to enquire on the 3rd . Seems some beep clerk captured my new address and old address as being the same. The telkom system cancelled the order and no-one bothered to correct it. I flipped my lid, as the form I filled was 100% correct.
Behold my line was in and activated on the 3rd.
 
Took me a week from walking into Telkom shop on a Mon to a new line installed, ADSL activation and then data from Mweb's side, no problems at all. Would've been even quicker but was a public holiday the Fri...
 
Im still waiting... have a voice line and applied for Mweb all inclusive on 20 April. Now 10 May and DSL has not yet been activated... sigh...
