Here's my mission so far. 2 weeks ago the 1st of march my story starts

1 march 2006 : Phone telkom for DSL, told they are 100% certain I can get DSL in Seapoint/Greenpoint/City Bowl area. For those of you who dont know, this is basically the main hub of CT activity. Get told to phone back in 2 weeks.

8 march - 12 march 2006 - Phone 0800 456 687 NO REPLY ( Due to high volume of phone calls ).

13 March - Get through, Your line has been tested, no self install options, we will phone you and let you know in 4 weeks when we can come and install.

14 march - Sorry no ports on your line, Please wait 3 - 6 months, you have to be patient with us, everyone wants DSL.

How the hell do you order DSL in this country ? Are there any other available options that will provide me with a low latency line ?

Update :

15 March - Telkom said phone back, we will for 100% sure be able to get you a timeline from our project planners. Response : Sorry, we cant help you, in fact, we cant help you at all, wait for our phone call, 1 day to 6 month possible waiting period. Not enough resources I am told

So, Telkom is telling me the following, businesses who dont have DSL in Seapoint, Greenpoint and CITY BOWL ( business hub ) if any of them need DSL, they cant be helped at all due to the fact they have no more points left. In fact, the businesses will be helpless for the next 6 months :(. Either I am being screwed or Telkom are honestly in a bad situation. I simply cant believe that the city centre of a major metropolis is unable to support more DSL connections

HOWEVER, Telkom due have enough resources ( 5 of them as well as a few new VERY expensive toys ) to come into my place of workand put in an entire new infrastructure for our networks :/, and all i want is a lame 192k DSL line.

when you need something big, you phone flight center, buy a return ticket to HK, fly there with your laptop, go to internet cafe, download whatever you need, come back. It is cheaper and faster :D

What do you expect?

Is this not Africa?

And they still think that they are going to be the Soccer World Cup Hosts for 2010?

LMAO

Dream on South Africa dream on.

Waited 2 Years

Waited 2 Years and 3-4 order numbers later to finally get ADSL.

Maybe Try This

Phone or go to the main office and start ranting & shouting at everyone.

Sometimes one does get their way, you've tried everything else ;)

You are calling the wrong number. To order a new service, speak to the Telkom operator at 10217 (for business use) or 10219 (for home use).
