Telkom best ADSL ISP - Poll

Well I never ! Most folks laugh when I tell them Telkom is my ISP. What gives ?

To be honest, polls and surveys are useless because most users will just say that their ISP is the best. Its more a survey of which ISP people are using. Only way to add any real relevance to this sort of thing is have users test every other ISP for a week and score them relative to their own. You would need a pretty decent cross-section of users based on current ISP and what they use there internet for, not to mention cross sections on location and line speeds too... I use axxess, they are very good on the support side and I've very seldom had DSL issues relating to ISP, their self service, pro rata billing, telkom line management (with saving) as well as 24 hour support put them well ahead of most other ISP's in my book. I've used Plugg for gaming on a sponsored account and recently got my free 1 gig from Afrihost, both are decent connections from a speed and latency perspective. Other than that I cant rate the others... and most ppl aren't in the position to rate more than one, but yet they answer polls and surveys. You're giving your broadband a rank in the survey, relative to what?

I think a lot of users on this forum have 2 or more accounts, but there is definite truth in your statement.
 
It was definitely a surprising poll and I suspect the initial results surprised rpm - see my post http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/518099-Top-ADSL-ISP-in-South-Africa?p=10104299&viewfull=1#post10104299.

I don't know what the final results were (where do we find closed polls on MyBB?) but TI were definitely up there in the top three with axxess & Afrihost, usually at no 2.

What's even more amazing is that I saw no sign of TI or their adherents exhorting people to vote, this has to be good reflection on TI's popularity that MyBB members took the time to vote - who'd of thought there were so many given the constant insults hurled at TI :confused:

Axxess was first on the poll that was on MyBB(you know they normally have one going on the right side of the main page), Afrihost is first on the survey they did which what the article is about.

The current poll is "Do you think your salary is too high or too low?"

Ah, misunderstanding. I thought you were referring to AfriHost not being listed first on the survey. :o
