Telkom cancellation query

i cancelled a Mobile Business contract i've had as a backup for years on August 5th. apart from the automated email saying I would be contacted within 48 hours, there has been no response. I've followed up a few times by mail with the same outcome (i.e. none). also tried to call but gave up on after going on hold and triggering my PTSD.

does anyone have a different suggested contact/follow-up strategy that I can try?

Go into a Telkom store.
Convert the contract on that SIM to prepaid.
Shred the SIM.
Done
 
in other news, nominations are apparently now open for the least useful reply to a question 2019/2020.
