Telkom capping lower and lower

Telkom Internet is capping lower and lower on their adsl 3 gig packages.

Got a smudge over 6 on mine this month. :sick:
 
bonobo - what is exactly is your job description? Are you at Telkom or TelkomInternet?
 
Cool. Sounds to me like you're the only one that actually knows what's going on. It's good to have some decent answers to questions that have been floating around for ages!!
 
So you now get a gauranteed 6GB per TelkomInternet account (3GB) and capped after you hit that? Even if you are online at that time? Your access will simply stop while downloading a file for example or opening a webpage?
 
Sounds that way MrG - at least for May. Will change again next month.
 
This month, 3Gb is set to be hrad capped at 6Gb. Once you reach 6Gb, you will be disconnected. When your connection is re-established, you can only send/receive mail, go to Telkom & Banking sites.
 
You say this month, are you seeing that there will be a change in the near future again (4 months)? or is this policy set to stick?
 
I don't make the policy. I just implement it. It could change from month to month. It is all related to the shared pool of bandwidth.
 
ah okay. Thanks :) Are you able to post the month to month figures as they are known to you for that month? So we know how we should conduct our usage? Thanks for clearing the above up :)

How big is that pool? Olympic size or backyard size? I bet it's Olympic, so tell telscum to stop being so stingy already :sick:
 
Then make the cut-off like 50gigs... then we are all happy
 
Bonobo, you say that we will still be able to check our mail once we have been cut off. Is this only my telkom mail account or any mail?

I've noticed something else...My line is no longer reset after 24 hours...been connected for over 2 days now... is this something new? Or have I missed something?

And for the 2GB acounts?

Bonobo_slr, could you please post the hard caps for 2GB and 3GB accounts, each month? Then we would know how much we can use. If you could do this it would be much appreciated. :)

I think 2g accounts been hardcapped at 4 gigs...
For the past few months i got capped there and I didt abuse it so didnt download like crazy after i hit the cap.

Am I right bonobo_sir? ;)
 
2Gb has 4Gb hard cap, 3Gb has 6Gb cap. Once capped you can get to only telkomsa.net mail servers, telkom sites and the 4 major internet banking portals.

Is this going to be made official any time soon are are we lucky few going to be the only ones to know?
 
at least if u get a telkominternet account you gets 3 gigs free ?
