Telkom 'caught tapping into private line'

classic - photographic evidence rules

how may we screw you, let us count the ways

We all know this sort of thing has been happening for decades - the only problem has been finding ways to prove that it's still happening.

There really aren't any effective consumer-side solutions to putting a stop to abuse from Telkomonopoly employees, it is time that Telkomonopoly recognised that this is actually fraud.

Methinks the company should lodge a complaint against Telkomonopoly with ICASA, in addition to threatening legal action, and if Telkomonopoly reverse the charges on the account, the company should still push the matter with ICASA.

Perhaps the company involved could get a representative to register as a MyADSL member, and together with others affected by the same thing, a joint complaint could be lodged with ICASA...

Asked to comment, Telkom's national spokesperson, Xolisi Vapi, said from Pretoria: "According to technicians, they were nowhere near the distribution box. Mr Mathews should wait for an account so that he can see whether or not his line was used."

Vapi said that if there was evidence that calls were made, "we will investigate".

Ok, so Vapi is basically saying "you are lying" and we'll bill you anyway to see if your right.

Typical - I hope they take this further and rip Hellkom a new one !

This is funny - Telkom against a security company! What a joke!

Even if they are not charged they should still be compensated because Telkom was using their lines - means they can't use their telephone

they will probably do some creative work with the billing of the security company...

I can believe this happens and quiet frequently... Telkom should face the music and realise as each day passes the harder they will fal when they do fall.

This is why you get itemised billing on your telkom account. You then look through it and check for any strange numbers. Problem Solved.
