Telkom charging for callouts now?

Nah it's just the unnecessary call out fee... If they charged you just go to a Telkom store let them log a dispute to reverse the charge. Takes like 4 working days and you can see the credit already on your account with the Telkom online portal.

They actually did this to our school 6 months ago... we've been without ADSL since then.

Telkom fixed my neighbours phone and disconnected my phone and two other people who are connected from the same pole. On reporting the lady said if it was an internal wiring fault it would be for my account. Telling this person that the dis started as the tech was working in the distribution box made no difference, she insisted that unless I agreed nothing would happen. I said that two other subscribers had been disconnected at the same time. She said that these were separate jobs and could not be combined

So I hung up and asked the one neighbour, who is a British Airways ground support manager and whose phone is paid for by BA to report it. He called his office at 7.00 in the morning and by 11.00 two Telkom techs were round fixing it. Nevetheless, we found out this past week that an additional R700 for "additional services" was added to the invoice

Telkom has what's known as "UCOC's" which is short for "Unnecessary Call-Out Charges". Out of interest have any of you found yourself receiving an SMS that there's a problem on your line? https://mybroadband.co.za/news/adsl/122012-adsl-problems-caused-by-new-telkom-system-isps.html

This would be more prevalent on the new services (as the old ones are busy disappearing).

What if Assia reports a fault on your behalf, would you honestly expect that Telkom would expect you to pay when a tech rocks up?

About to cancel the pots anyway... but definitely been paying for indoor wiring and know other people still paying as well.
Mind scanning a copy of your account with personal details blurred? Just the section which states the billing for the wiring?

BT's monthly fee for line rental is £19.00 a month. Add to that calls at £0.12 a minute and £0.16 to mobile numbers. Compared with that, SA consumers are not too badly off

The installation service is very quick - typically 6 hours but repairs and faults can take a little longer. Their "star" residential wiring system is a bit unsightly but prevents the typical occurance here that a pole is inaccessible due to there being no-one home or a person who refuses entry to technicians

That seems consistent with the OP, I assume it's a business line hence the R700, this is very concerning.

I have 3 indoor extensions and have never paid for any of them. I bought and installed them, plus the instruments
