I decided to do a price comparison for myself to see which way it turned out to be the cheapest..

1) Closer 5 + 3gig

Closer5 = R651
3gig = R239
TOTAL = R890

2) Closer 3 + do 3

Closer3 = R300
Do3 = R554
TOTAL = R854

3) Closer 3 + 3gig + 4meg

Closer3 = R300
3gig = R239
4meg = R413
TOTAL = R952

Im on the 1st one so i could save myself R36 per month! 36 x 12 which turns out to be R432 a year.. Anyhow i just found it very interesting that all 3 are exactly the same thing but the prices are so different.. I mean the Price difference between the most expensive and cheapest way to do it is R98 which equates to R1176 a year which to some people is a lot of money.

Interesting comparison - I have noticed a monthly discount of r85 has been applied to my account for Do Broadband 3 even though its not something I recall applying for.

The discount you see is the difference between the price of the packages as listed separately in comparison "3" above and the combined package as listed under comparison "2". The R85 is before vat.

AFAIK telkom automatically charges the lowest price if you subscribe to the a 4meg line plus 3gig from telkominternet.

How uncharacteristically decent of them. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

The disappointing thing for me is that the Do Closer 3 package which bundles these two is exactly the same price. It does not encourage Do 3 users to get Closer 3, or Closer 3 users to get broadband. Bit of a wasted opportunity.

So I'll rather stick with Closer 5, and maintain my freedom of choice on ISPs. Eg: IS 3/27 (R209) + Closer 5 (R651) = R860.

I bang out the international access ASAP, usually get 5-6GBs, and then use it as a local only account.

I have my 3gig TI + 30gig local.. Telkoms bw is unbeatable plus i get my 6gigs out of it so im fine.
