Hey,

I needed some advice on telkom adsl...

I have a Telkom closer plan on
my landline, which essentially is:

R 199.70 per month + R 133.30
HomeLine rental
So for R333 per month u get:
HomeLine rental
FREE local and long distance calls, up to an
hour per call during Callmore time (free
evening and weekend calls) – Telkom local
and long distance.
1300 inclusive minutes for local and long
distance calls during Standard time.
Pure per second billing on fixed line calls
to cellular numbers.

I now require an add on ADSL plan for this line, for internet access. I used to have an mweb dialup account, which I recently terminated. I have a Gmail mailbox, so I don't require a mailbox from Telkom, I just need internet access for my Dad n I to browse, check our Gmail, n occassionally download...

Please could somebody assist me in choosing an appropriate add on plan, thanx a mil guys... :)

Check out the Axxess Lite packages.

Sorry it seems you don't have ADSL on your line yet - right?

You'll need an ADSL line installed, if you don't have one yet. Still need Telkom for that :(

And then shop around for a package/ISP that suits your needs.

The amount of data you're likely to use for your stated requirements, a capped package will probably be enough.

And if you find you're needing more, then it's easy enough with most ISP's to change.

I switched with AfriHost from a 5Gb cap to 15Gb, and it was an immediate upgrade.

... and as it's your first post, welcome to the forums ;)

Just make sure you don't sign a contract, rather do a per month deal.

All depends on your usuage. I signed a 24mth Do-2 contract 3 months ago and no regrets. Telkom Do2 has always been one of the best deals and now that its 5GB blended, even better. I'm only paying R255 for 5Gb + 384 circuit.

But then again you need to be a lite user like me that struggles to use 4GB a month, so uncapped is a waste to me as I would be paying at least R100 more for bandwidth I do not use.

Also if you require a reliable connection (like me as I need to log onto remote servers), then cheap uncapped is a no go.

I also sign on the do 2 package and it is also more than enough for me. But then again i used to be on 2 gig 3G so five gigs feela like allot.
