Hi there

I would like to find out if with the closer calling plan how is the month run for the 1000 min and with the off peak calls for up to an hour free if you hang up and call the number again is the next hour also free or how does that work? would be great to see how it works

AFAIK the 1000 minutes corresponds to your billing cycle, ie gets reset at the end of your accounts invoice date.
As regards off peak you can just hang up and redial and as long as each call does not exceed 60 minutes you will not be charged.

isn't telkom loosing out this way with the hour free call?? cos just think about it if you do that about 6 or 7 times a night are they not running at a loss?

Yeah, but how many people are going to spend 6 or 7 hours a night on the phone?

Remember you're paying a monthly fee for this, and your non-callmore time call charges are slightly higher, so for Telkom, across all their closer subscribers, this makes up for the free hour-long calls in callmore time.

That said, it is a very good deal that's perfect for me, and I just hope Telkom don't destroy it next time they adjust their fees.

yeah true that but i will never use the 1000 min a month and don't call mobile phones from land line got an MTN contract for that... and true not many people spend so much time on the phone to people so also perfect for me

Also remember you can not use this for internet access as data calls are excluded:mad:

you can if you are clever..... how will they know if it is a data call? if you get a friend that has adsl or your office that has a digiline and get a server to connect you through to there computers how will they know it is data because it is a normal telephone number you are dialing.... just a thought not sure if it would work maybe some one has tried it and let me know

You right - however most of the standard pop numbers are picked up as data calls. If you can find one that is not seen as a data call it would be free.

well if friends with people in your IT side at work they should be able to arrange something for you or if you have a good friend with adsl they just connect a modem up to there pc and get software and can use there net

They still have to pay for the bandwidth you use. On normal dialup the bandwidth does not get taken of you adsl cap as you are paying for the call.

But however is supplying you with an ADSL connection needs to make a telephone line available to you so you can call the computer - this obviously also has a cost.

And you can actually use quite a bit of data on dial-up. I've got the CLoser 150hour (@R150) internet package, and I usually Tx/Rx over 3GB of data per month.
