Telkom Coverage Map

Does anyone know how accurate the Telkom coverage map is. We have guys in our area installing the green sleeves which (I believe) are for fibre, however on the coverage map it doesn't show us as even being planned. Or is it possible the green sleeves are for something else? They are definitely for Telkom.

Good question. Ive tried Telkom and Axxess and they both told me there was nothing planned for my area, even though it would seem there is fibre currently being pulled

A telkom tech said we had fibre to the pole in our yard, yet their stupid coverage map says we aren't in a coverage area. So what does telkom look at when they say you can or can't get?

Probably still testing but seems like it will be active very soon.

Malke sure you're using the correct coverage map. Telkom says that this is their current coverage map: http://www.openserve.co.za/open/fibre/

That also shows me as not covered and not planned. I spoke to the guys working on the cables this weekend and they said they are Telkom

That's much the same experience as many folks have had / are having. For whatever reason, it's common to see the guys working even before the map shows 'planned'.
If you have a look at the OP in this thread, you'll see what I mean. (You may also recognise some of the pics!). There are later posts in that thread where folks have had the same experience.
Not to try and freak you out, but in my case it was 7 months from the time the fibre splice box was visible on top of the pole in my yard, until my own fibre was actually lit up.

Thanks for the pics.Sorry to hear it took 7 months once splice box was visible.Was hoping no longer than 3 months!!Oh well been waiting for 2 years so a few more months ain't going to kill me.
