Telkom dismisses Cell C merger talks

Telkom has again dismissed talk of a potential merger deal with South Africa’s third mobile operator, Cell C.

Cell C seems to be quite the slut in the telecoms space. Can they not cope on their own? Are they struggling?

If Telkom had money Cell C would be the good buy, they have Mobile Skill and Customer Base, add Telkom Backbone network and their access to LTE Spectrum, then you have a winner combination

Don't fool yourself. CellC know exactly what is doing. They have the capital and the growth to show. Telkom is with their backs on the wall. To feed their relentless growth, CellC needs infrastructure and this is exactly what Telkom has (or what is left of it). It won't surprise me if Alan will twist Telkom's arm before the year is over. In that case the consumer will score the most. Fairly cheap internet might finally become a reality.
