I quote from the account usage e-mail I received:

What happens when I reach my poroduct (sic) capping?

You will enter SoftCap mode. This means that you will enjoy most local and international websites, on a reduced ISP speed. In SoftCapped mode, you will not be able to access bandwidth intensive applications such as peer-to-peer applications or online video streaming. You will also not qualify for this double-your-cap promotion if you are in SoftCap mode.

What does the sentence I've placed in bold mean in practice? It almost looks as if I won't get my double helping of GB in the new month if I go into SoftCap this month and don't pre-pay or post-pay.

I had the same concern when I read that email. The risk of losing my extra 20GB next month is too high and I will change the account over to Afrihost just before I hit zero...

“The double your cap increases your usage limit for the month, each and every month for the duration of the promotion. This means that if you finish your cap(x2), you will be subjected to SoftCap unless you top-up during the remainder of the month. The next month reverts your usage limit to the normal allocation times two. SoftCap is a constant product feature as defined in our product Terms and Conditions.”

Thanks for clarifying the matter, TelkomZA. So we do qualify for the double-your-cap promotion (next month) even if we are in SoftCap mode (this month).

I have no idea why that sentence was included in the mail at all. At least we can all ignore it now.

If you are referring to the usage notification email, this portion will be removed soon. If not, please let me know which email.

I was on leave when this went in ... so no idea either ...
