Telkom enabling ASSIA and driving me nuts

would someone mind telling me, what ASSIA is.

Some software Telkom are running for auto adjusting people's line speeds based on their line stats - supposedly to ensure stable connections.

can Telkom online chat change it back to fast path? or only TelkomZA?

That is BS, my line stats are almost perfect, yet they dropped my sync speed.

no they cant, just tried, I think the online chat is more a longer way to report a fault.

I have the same problem. And i am struggeling to get my line to fastpath. Modem settings. Even downgraded from 10 to 8 mbps and see if a high snr will allow the dslam to put me on fastpath. Nothing. Who did you ask to get this sorted? And what do you ask them spesificaly?

Can you guys that are on this new crap post some traceroutes, just wanna see the first few hops

Thanks. Will pm telkomza and ask them. Thanks for the reply

Hey guys, what is a good ISP and account to use for gaming? I'm connecting to servers in Europe for Rainbow Six Siege.

I've tried Telkom, Axxess, WebAfrica so far, no joy in getting my ping lower than 220ms.

Odd seeing this from an oldfag. Wrong thread, China.

Why is it the wrong thread? If Telkom seems to have inane protocols in place to hamstring their product offering then it makes sense to rather move to another ISP.

In terms of the 'oldfag' reference I can only assume you mean I should know better. I've been out of FPS gaming for a few years and am doing a bit of catch up lately in all respects.

Apologies if my post implied disrespect. Topic of this thread entails ASSIA messing around with line sync and latency. Your post is asking for an ISP that favours gaming. Not quite the same thing.

By oldfag, I meant someone who has been a member of myBB for a long time.

If we switch ISPs using the same adsl line would the speed behaviour be the same?I am getting frustrated with the lower sync speeds recently and would like to move my service to another ISP.

Who you buy bandwidth from doesn't have an impact on what your line sync does.

ASSIA is also really causing hyper tension my side. My line is only stable for the few days that it is disabled before it reverts back :(

I found this out yesterday when trying the Axxess free gig account. Same connection speed as Telkom uncapped.

Dropped from 4 meg to 2.5meg. Also, my ping seems to be much higher than it's supposed to be. Is this a temporary system or is it permanent?
