Telkom enforces uplink speed

They are, simply put, morons.

THE SLOWER THE CONNECTION THE MORE STRAIN (for want of a better description) ON THE NETWORK. Can you believe a graphic designer knows this and they don't.

Why do they not understand that? The faster the connection the better.. it's common sense for many reasons.

Anyway they're digging their own hole. Their logic makes a Lumber City plank look intelligent.

Telkom has confirmed the service, as advertised, has not been altered at all: “The upload speed for DSL 384 was always 128Kbps,” says Lulu Letlape, group executive for corporate communications

I do not actually agree with above - previously telkom sold the 384/128 service as a service that would normally give you those speeds as effective throughput speeds. That is why in the past the modem sync speeds were actually higher than the rated speeds to allow for connection overheads of about 20% - as from 1 Aug they state the advertised speeds are maximum speeds which will in fact never be achieved and effective throughput speeds will in fact be lower.
