telkom exchange and distance

i signed up for a 4MB uncapped account with MWeb 2 months ago
i have had this issue before with 4MB line and they drop me to 2MB synching

obviously if i synch on 4Mb my internet drops for like 10 seconds every now and then but its a problem when your playing online and all of a sudden the line drops for 10 seconds

i read a couple of other posts on MyBroadband and found that telkom can put DSLAM boxes in an area that is too far away from the exchange
does anyone know of a way to request telkom to come and install one of these boxes into my area?

even if i have to bring up the idea in a community meeting and get people to sing a petition requesting it but i have no idea who i would send that to

my business deals with a lot on downloading and uploading and it would a lot quicker to have a 4MB line

some help would be greatly appreciated

Try go to a telkom shop and get some advice from them (if they are intelligent enough to speak) about who or where to send a petition to.

However people have been trying to get telkom do do this in other areas for years, its probably not going to happen but good luck.

+1. However, there is no harm in trying. The beast that is Telkom is changing, from a big ugly monster that it was, to smaller Tasmanian Devil. You never know...

But please do keep us (the myBB community) posted - if you are successful, we definitely want to know about it, so we can start our own little campaigns all over the country.

Took me 2 years, to go from a spotty 3.5mb, on a good day, to a solid 6mb line,...to be honest, of late telkom has impressed me, .... so there is hope...

1.5km from a 10Mb enabled exchange and they are hard locking the lines to 4Mb... I feel you pain...

Just for information to get way-leaves to put a MSAN/ISAM on council property and supply electricity not to mention the trenching of the fiber cable takes more than 9 months so dont hold your breath.
