Telkom Exchange Speed

I tried ordering 10 Mbps DSL but the lady tells me I can only get 5 Mbps whilst the coverage checker says 10 Mbps and it's recently updated because it used to say 4 Mbps. What can I do to get a higher speed?

I faced the same issue with Telkom, they called telling me I can change to a only DSL Line. I asked if 10 mbps would be possible they said no but on the OpenServe DSL map it indicated as 20mbps available as well as on my router's attainable rate. IMO Telkom is restricting certain areas to slower speeds even their DSL only package is bad because of the throttling.

I can't even get the 4 Mbps I applied for technician "claims" UMC can't handle the speed.

Is there a way one can test what max speed on a line is ? At moment I am on 10MB adsl and its rock solid but I am thinking going to 20MB

I've used it for years, but maybe it's out of date now.
