Hi all

We have been trying to enable a static IP on our Telkom Internet Fibre line. After being pushed back and forth between departments we had a reply to indicate that static IP's are not possible on a fibre account? I seriously doubt this is the case.

Any one have information or managed to get a static IP with Telkom Internet on their fibre?

Should be the same way as DSL. It's linked to the data account and not the line. If you with Telkom as your ISP, message telkom on twitter or mybb and ask if the option is available with the fibre option.

So you've ordered the Fibre, it got installed, then the installers (Huawei most likely) would complete the job, then you would get a IP subnet for the link (and the installers would say which port on their equipment you may use).

Your ISP (that give you connection internet), would issue you then with 3 bits of information (VLAN, Link IPs (/30)) and your static IP subnet that you ordered when you order the line. You need to setup a router that support VLANs then with the 3 bits of info, and then you have your connection, and your IPs.

Exactly what I thought. It's a PPPoE account so would work in the same manner.
