5 meg upload (what they claim not sure how it works)

Free line rental
Free router
Free installation

Want to know if this is a good deal and how the landline telephone works on fibre without copper?

eg: webafrica offers same just month to month for a little more. plus first two months free so makes up for extra spent over about 2 years. (openserve)

phone just plugs into router and works, same as copper just router in between.

The deal is decent if you ask me. Not the best, but far far from the worst. I'd consider if it was available in my area.

As for speeds, all of Telkom's fibre is asymmetrical. Upload is always half download.

The phone is a VoIP phone. Meaning you make the call over the internet like a Skype or Viber or Whstsapp call. They handle it so can call landline and cell numbers.

thanks wasn't sure how this fibre works and prefer to stay with Telkom less problems when moving etc.

You return the free router or pay for it within the first 6 months, after that it's yours.

There is none telkom comes and does the install, webafrica only supplies modem.

The installation is free, confirmed with WA, except if there is civils (trenching and contruction work to be done) but this is only required in very rare case since there is existing duckting available for most houses.

I signed up with Afrihost for same speed and price. R800 pm unlimited. They dealt with Telkom on my behalf. After installation they immediately switched it on. However, there is no contract!! Which I like, if you want to leave you just cancell.

It will work just like a normal land line, just over the internet.

Well if I still have to pay for calls then may as well just stay with adsl with free landline calls and mobile data at the same price.
