Telkom forging ahead with WiMax rollout

Telkom has announced the successful trial of WiMax, with plans to aggressively increase its current footprint.

I suspect this is a way of them to justify a slack ADSL rollout. "Sorry we dont have and never will have ADSL in your area, but here is a crappy high latency WiMax solution you can frustrate yourself with."

For some people if not most people in those areas where DSL is not avalible this will be more than welcome..

It all depends on what those people use their internet for..

Wimax has relatively low latency.

But where is Neotel? They are only planning Wimax trials for the end of 2007.

And have they even begun testing CDMA yet?

The internet was invented for 2 things, games and porn. Telling me I can now only get porn cause there is too much latency for gaming is telling me I can only use 50% of my service....That aint goona fly.
