Hey guys

Our HOA recently announced that they signed with Telkom to provide fibre in the area.

This is the most recent article I could find regarding the available FTTH packages > http://mybroadband.co.za/news/fibre/133360-big-fibre-to-the-home-price-cuts-telkom-vs-mweb.html

What I wanted to find out from you guys, was whether it would be possible to split the connection + bandwidth. Does it always have to be a "bundle" package, or would it be possible to get the fibre connection from Telkom, but go to another ISP for the bandwidth?

Yes you can provided the isp has an agreement with telkom

Does the Telkom Fibre link back in to the normal ADSL backbone, i.e. just a last mile difference?

Telkom have the Elite option, 500GB included then you hit a SoftCap - anyone know the terms of this softcap? If it is 50% of bandwidth I'm signing up right now!

Any ideas on the contention, Neotel claim 1/10 for the Neobroadband Fibre product which is what I would like to compare the Telkom option to.

Anyone have an idea of the FTTH backhaul, assume this would be 100Mbps to MSAN, then from there Gbps or more, but would like to get some clarity here.
