Hi

I know we will have FTTH by DEC and already see the TELKOM crews starting to lay the fibre to the street side cabinets but does anyone know how they are going to get the fibre to our doors?

Trenching or on the existing poles?

My guess is that it will either be trenching, or on pole depending on how the stuff is currently setup.

I would guess that they would use the same routes that the current copper is using.

So the copper would be recovered and be replaced with a fibre, right into your terminating equipment in your house.

Yup, they are using the same routes, looks like fibre to street curbs with junction and then fibre from there up onto the existing poles.

Apologies for climbing onto an old thread, but this thread may shed some light on that question.

SSKZA, is anything similar happening (or maybe it's already happened) down your way ?
