"In what the cynical might see as a calculated move, Telkom decided not to take any technical experts to the Icasa public hearings on its ADSL broadband service. So questions about the methodology of its pricing went unanswered – no experts were available to provide the info. Instead, the monopoly telecoms group will give Icasa written responses. A cunning way to avoid public discussion about the pricey service, some might say. Of course, who can blame Telkom? Apparently its broadband is around 15 times more expensive than similar offerings elsewhere in the world. It would have been pretty awkward for a technical type to explain that to a room of irate punters."

There isn't anyway to request to ICASA that these reports are allowed to be examined by the public (or those at the hearings)?, or open it to public discussion at a later date (or would that take a year again?)

Those documents should not be admissable unless they're open to public scrutiny.

I tend to agree if this is the case.
A public hearing is a public hearing. Finished and Klaar.

Why do public hearings have to be in a fixed location?

We are discussing modern technology, why not use modern technology such as forums to hold such public hearings?

ICASA would do wise to publish all suplementary material such as Telkom's "late" responses on the web for all to see.

They would also be very wise to follow this forum for an analysis of those documents.

do you really think they have technical experts??? Please introduce one to me.... so far I did not met one!!! *ggg*

Are we able to petition ICASA at this stage to make these responses public as soon as they're submitted ?
Although if the hearings finish today shouldn't they submit their responses today?
