Telkom has been cornered

Most of South Africa’s cellular industry is taking a victory lap after bidding in the country’s first-ever auction for radio frequency spectrum.

Vodacom, MTN, Rain, Liquid, Cell C (with caveats) — everyone is rejoicing, congratulating industry regulator Icasa and communications minister Khumbudzo Ntshavheni on a job well done.

Everyone except Telkom.

News for you TELKOM.
You squandered your monopoly that you had for years.
If you provided services you probably wouldnt be n this position.
Ideology vs technology.
While you had a monopoly , MTN and Vodacom were not even around.
Technology waits for no one

It's difficult to forget the years of telecom call centres, the terrible service they gave. The time when you had sleepless nights trying to cancel your expired cell phone/home phone contract. In fact I think they must have trained the ANC government call centres. Well I have not forgotten, so fade away you are not needed anymore, and for those employees that gave us this terrible service enjoy the job hunting I'm sure their are lots of employers out there looking for ex Telkom call centre staff...Or not.

So mybroadband journalist now don't claim of rain has 142MHz in C-Band you only mentioned 80MHz in C-Band
It was confusing because rain confirmed they only use 80MHz bandwidth for 5G
Mybroadband journalist was misinformed

Is Keabestwe's picture just a mainstay now? There's absolutely no need for it to be in the article.

So essentially Telkom misses being the most despised company in SA and dearly wants to reclaim that mid 2000's vibe again. It wishes South Africans to think about them like they do about that gum stuck in between the crevices of your shoes and no matter how hard you try cant get it out.

The Telkom useless POS stuffed up the Samsung S22 launch pre orders and stuff too. As long as they getting paid they don't give.a.****.

The thing is if their grievances are addressed they will provide all those things and become the most beloved company. Somehow I smell sabotage to this auction so that no matter what they do they become the most hated company.

Telkom mobile is not the same as Telkom fixed. You hardly see complaints about Telkom mobile even on this forum. No spamming like MTN, no disappearing airtime or data, you want a sim swap no impossible security questions, you just take your ID to their shop and you get a new sim card. It’s really the best mobile service at the moment. The only reason I am with MTN instead of Telkom is the irresistible afrihost prepaid mobile data.

Partially agree, would not touch a Telkom contract. But their prepaid Mobile has been sufficient for me for the last few years. I think I have been with them since 2014.

That's what you get Telkom when, without warning, you ripped out my landline/ADSL because your "our people" were stealing your cables!....suck it up, you've earned consumer's contempt!

I've avoided the cashcow Vodacom and MTN BIOPOLY's for many years now. They both make the think of the banks, that until Capitec arrived, were NOT charging R5 for access to a bank account.

Change has happened to Telkom, however VC and MTN are leaders in accessibility.

Telkom wants a more fair and equal share, not a "biggest wallet of money wins", because if we don't adopt more equal methods are sharing other than with quantity of money, you'll be the one end up paying for the huge capitalists.

From the reason Telkom has given I conclude that they have a real and good case to complain about this auction and how it was conducted.

I understand your point of view.

But what Telkom is threatening is like destroying the whole estate complex because they didnt get the stand they wanted and so now no one can inhabit the estate.
