As fingerprintz said. You need a business account if you need torrent while you are awake.

Try unchecking uTP bandwidth management under files-preferences-bittorrent. Also dont limit your upload, I found if I limit my upload to 5kB/s, like I usually had it, then my download rate was very low. Set upload to unlimited and speeds improved drastically.
I dont know if this was due to a uTorrent update I did recently or not.

No no no no. From anecdotal evidence you don't torrent frequently, so try not to be offended with my correction here. ABSOLUTELY LIMIT UPLOAD SPEED. ALWAYS. Even if you were on a T1/Cable/Fiber line in KOREA you'd be better off limiting your upload speeds. It is absolutely critical. However do so with quite a bit of leeway. Set a limit between 20-60kBs or so, depending on your relative upload speed.

Also do not use uTorrent. It's become bloatware and performs poorly. Use Tixati. The UI either takes getting used to or customization (because default is terminal black) but it is exclusively for torrents and packed with features ONLY for torrents. Everything built into it is there to get you better speeds and seeds.

Hell, hit the auto-limit button and guess what? You can even torrent while playing online games, THAT'S how seriously the app takes what it does.
 
Torrent between 0:00 and 6:00. Telkom have told us this. There is a rough figure of 120GB for 2mbps uncapped. This keeps coming up and keeps getting explained.

... and limit your download speed as well if you want a happy internet experience. Never understood this mania for maxing out the line, all my download protocols are speed limited so that I can browse, stream radio and RDP comfortably.

I think you misunderstand. Most people limit their upload not because of internet performance, but because they're selfish bastards that don't want to share what they just downloaded. Torrents only work if everyone shares. That's why people that limit uploads to so slow get lower priority.

You advice should rather be something like "Limit your uploads to 80% of you upload speed".

Of course selecting and downloading the torrent before hand is also covered by the proxy. No point in using a proxy if you are not also taking are of dns leaks and even just having a vpn as it is doesn't cover it. You have to specifically make sure that you don't have dns leaks, because dns also gets logged at isp level...
