hello,

i havent really been following anything about the SA internet for a while. Whats all this talk about getting upgraded for free to 8mb/s?

I am currently a 4mb/s Telkom user...
so what am i getting for free ? :p
 
Cool, so im getting reaaaaalllly fast internet as a free upgrade? or am i going to end up paying major hidden costs?
 
Let's put it this way... your line speed increase will probably be free BUT your ISP is going to to charge your more for the enhanced package!
 
Nope everyone is being downgraded due to the infrastructure being unable to cope with all these uncapped account. 4Mbps will go back to 1Mbps and so on. 8Mbps/10Mbps was just an April fools joke

Well next month is "D-day", i don't look forward to the "WTF! its the 15th of August and Telkom says my exchange cant support 8mbit!"
Its gonna happen, just hope people realize that sooner than later.

Im still really interested in modulations though.They cant just bump up people using g.dmt modulation unless they live close to the exchange.
8mbit i think should be ok but anything above that i think will cause tons of synch issues unless your on ADSL2+ mod.
Im completely fine with my 4mbit :) had my fix of speed when i was overseas
 
Telkom are already moving to adsl 2+. My router syncs fine when I put it to 2+ mode.

As for the OP, Telkom hasn't said yet whether they will be upgrading people to 8/10meg for free or if they will make the 4meg people cheaper and introduce new more expensive package for 8/10meg.

If you are on a 4 meg uncapped account though you will be paying more for an 8meg uncapped account.
 
Telkom are a bunch of fu**ing ****ers who are going to burn in hell - the writings on the wall !
