Does anyone know the right settings for someone with an Intekom.co.za email address to use the Telkomsa SMTP server? I have a customer with one old @intekom.co.za email address, and he's been unable to send email since he got a new PC. I eventually stumbled on a combination of settings to get it able to connect (I think I used smtp.telkomsa.net, port 25, authenticated), but now it's giving a 421 4.7.0 SMTP error, which is blocking due to spam.

I can't believe Telkom is so far back in the dark ages of email.

I managed to speak to someone at Telkom today. They have a general email problem; some users can't send, some can't receive. It's been ongoing for a few days, and they don't know when it'll be fixed.

smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net

you have to be on the telkom network to send emails.. not on another isp

Doesn't help you much on a laptop or phone, as you switch between different wifi networks, 3G networks, etc.

That is why I have a Host4africa hosting. About R600 a year and I manage my own email addresses. Don't use Gmail, or any other. My whole family have their own emails. Been using this since 2005.

Yep, much better to have control over it all yourself.
