Anybody else have issues with Telkom international? Local seems ok but international is fooked, cant even load speedtest.net

Agree, speedtest gives good speeds, but actual browsing seems shaped or sumfin, defntly not OK.

I am going nuts!!! Phoned Telkom and they deny having a problem, saying I must get an IT guy to come check my PC. F@ck!

This board does not allow upload of image and I can not access photobucket, as it is international, so how do I show my traceroute?

Yip a file from drop box is crawling at 5.6 KB/s

got netload downloading at a decent speed, browsing still slow

The images I Placed will disappear soon, as I did a temp on a local site.

Now, do not go phone those people!

Ranger, what is happening?

The upgrade we are doing at present is changing the way traffic gets from you to the internet. This has resulted in changes in how the international traffic is distributed, for the worse. IPNet staff are busy doing routing changes to re-balance the international utilisation.

Users should *not* reset modems or reconnect sessions, that will potentially aggravate the situation (and possibly cause other problems).

Unfortunately, due to the way the previous product worked, it was impossible to know up-front what capacities would be required where and whether routing changes were required in advance.

Thanks ranger. You are THE MAN!

If only Telkom could give a straight answer so people do not start fiddling with their setups and mess everything up further. Like call an IT person! And pay him what for the nuisance call. Telkom wants to bill us for nuisance call, can we bill them?

Any idea how long this will take to sort out?

Just shot past MyBB to see if I was imagining the slow speed, and was then planning on reboot my router. What do I discover? That Ranger is well on top of the issue as usual. Top man Ranger.

We are not entirely satisfied with some things at the call centre. We went to quite some effort to ensure they were aware of this change, the impact, and were warned against doing some of the things they were doing (recommending resetting modems, resetting customer passwords etc.), which exacerbated some problems.

It looks like international latency is better. I think there should have been an improvement around 15h00 to 15h15.

Please don't reboot, or otherwise terminate and reestablish PPPoE sessions. While we have been proactive in ensuring IP address allocation to BRASs proceeds in advance of new sessions, there is only so much we can control. If more than 1000 new sessions are established to a BRAS in under an hour, there is a risk of the IP address pool being exhausted, resulting in what appears to be an authentication failure.

This situation will probably persist until Sunday.

However, the slow international access should have been resolved (international seems adequate from our test ADSL line in the office).

International still very slow here and downloads running at 35KB/s on 4MB line.
