International traffic still has to get routed via jhb or cpt as that is where the gateways are.
 
I get similar results with trace routes, pings range from 10ms to 400ms right after the second hop.

My account seems to be behaving... although I havent tried much streaming as I didn't renew any of the services. Downloads are fine, browsing is fine.
 
My connection was very flaky today. Downloads kept failing and had to be restarted, these were HTTP downloads too.
It took about a hundred retries to download the latest KK Gapps from PA (only 200mb)

I wonder if this has anything to do with Dbn getting a POP?
Telkom says we'll only be down from Sunday 00:00 till 06:00 but stranger things have happened...
 
High quality Netflix streaming on TI at 7:30 PM...

What has the world come to?
 
Local pings are at 400ms atm :(

Reported a fault twice and still nothing has been done
 
Someone mentioned to me a while ago that PE's POP was due to go up this month, I was told this by a DSL techie on the line the call centre in Jan. I'm not actually sure if it's active or not, I know they've been laying cable for it for the last two years.

Our speeds and pings are likewise dismal, but it's only been like this for today.
 
Local seems alright tonight but can't stream YouTube at all. I don't see how extra pops are gonna help, local seems fine, international traffic is a problem.
 
Everything's rubbish tonight. Streaming, browsing, downloads ... Just barely able to post here.
 
Maybe there's some sort of load shedding happening? When I was complaining, everyone seemed to be having fun, when everyone is complaining, my downloads are running decently....
 
Tried TI this morning again and it's broken... A 9 MB file download took several minutes on a 10 Mbps line.
